If your toilet runs on, it’s not just irritating--it’s wasting water. Running toilets are usually caused by a leaky fill or flush valve. The flush valve might not be seating properly after a flush, or be worn with age. If that’s the case, water will always be trickling through the valve and into the bowl. There will never be enough water flowing through to flush the bowl, but the tricking sound will be annoying. Or it might be the fill valve is set too high, so the water in the tank is always spilling over into the overflow tube. Either way, they are small repairs that should be made as soon as possible to save money and spare your nerves. article by Mike Holmes.
